Open Source + SkySparq
SkySparq stands on the shoulders of Open Source software. We want to meaningfully contribute back to the Open Source ecosystem that has allowed us to rapidly grow with quality and performance. To this end, we are excited to announce grib2-go, our Go package for reading GRIB2 files. We are releasing this package under the MIT license and welcome external contributions.
grib2-go
We developed this package in-house as the cornerstone of our upcoming V2 pipeline. Our V2 pipeline is at the center of our expansion into providing new weather products. This package is a high-performance, in-memory parser for grib2 file formats. It is designed to defer metadata parsing until you need it, so you don't suffer performance degradation for information you don't intend to use.
Currently, the package is able to parse templates used by the NOAA in the GFS, GDAS, HRRR, and MRMS products. We will continue to add new templates until the entire grib2 spec is represented. We welcome PRs by users who need these templates before we do. However, the package is designed to be open so that users can design and use their own templates before they are available in the package.
As we grow, we look forward to contributing more to Open Source. In the meantime, take a look at grib2-go and let us know how it works for your own use cases.
